LCC Newsletter March 2018

The LCC closed the 17-18 season after curling on March 11. It was a great night with 15 new curlers on the ice in addition to our middle school and high school curlers and our regular adult curlers.

We will resume curling in August for about a week, then five weeks later to open the 18-19 curling season.

We will host our Mississippi River Open Bonspiel August 17-19.

You can get more information here.

For the bonspiel, we will need MANY curlers and as many volunteers (curlers and friends of curling)

In conjunction with the bonspiel, we will host a Learn-to-Curl on Sunday, August 19, at 4pm.

If you participated in a previous Learn-to-Curl, plan to return on August 19 for a L-t-C refresher.

Anyone reading this, tell your interested friends/family to save the date/time.

Please mark your calendar:

1) The Board of Directors invite (encourage) you to attend and participate in the Annual LCC Meeting. We will meet at 6:30pm on April 4, 2018, in the concessions area at GIIA. The meeting will last about an hour. It’s our time to talk about the health of the club and about the opportunities/challenges of curling on arena ice. We will call for nominations for curlers who would agree to serve in a position on the Board.

AND!!!

The LCC will give away a FREE TEAM ENTRY to one team wanting to curl in the Marsh Madness Bonspiel in Wisconsin Rapids, July 13-15. Reply to this e-mail if you want your team entered in the drawing (winner need not be present, but it sure would be fun if the winner were in attendance).

2) The LCC has again been invited to staff a cheer zone for the Fitness Festival on May 5, 2018, from 8:25am – 11:30am, at the north end of GIIA (back parking lot). If we get the most votes from the runner/walkers, the LCC will receive a monetary prize that we can use to help defray ice rental fees.

3) Bonspiel ice-prep and arena decorating: August 14-17

Bonspiel competitions: August 17-19

Please participate in the national survey to vote for “Best Athletes” of the recent Olympic Winter Games. You must vote in all three categories. The men’s curling team appears in the 3rd category (best team).
