Can you summarize the timeline of important deadlines and dates?
Sure can! Here's a quick summary:
-
August 11th - Registration closes (11:59pm Central, all divisions)
-
August 12th - Any wait-listed teams are notified of their status
-
August 25th - Late fill registration closes (qualifying divisions only, see below)
-
September 5th - Bonspiel begins!

Is there any possiblity for late registration?
Maybe. In the event that the bonspiel has not filled after confirming waitlisted teams following the August 11th deadline, we will accept late registration through August 25th for Qualifying Divisions only. There is no late registration for the Open / Non-Qualifying division.

For example, if the field stands at 22 teams on August 12th after moving any wait-list teams to the field, we will accept late registration of two additional Qualifying teams no later than August 25th.
My team will compete in a future regional playdown. Which division can we enter?
If you plan to compete in a regional arena playdown prior to this bonspiel, register in your respective qualifying division (i.e. men's or women's) and let us know that you plan to compete in a playdown.

If you win your regional playdown, your team will be moved to the Open / Non-Qualifying division wait-list to give preference to arena teams who have yet to earn a championship berth. If you do not win your playdown, you will stay in your qualifying division and remain eligible to win the nationals berth from this bonspiel.

My team is not competing in a regional playdown. Can we still enter a qualifying division?
Yes! The qualifying divisions are open to any teams comprised of curlers eligible to compete in the arena national championship. There is no requirement for your team to have competed in any regional playdown.

My team registered in a qualifying division, but won our regional playdown. Can we get a refund if we do not attend this bonspiel?
If your team's attendance depends on whether you win your playdown or not, please register in your qualifying division but do not make payment yet and add a comment during registration to let us know the timeline for your situation.

Out of courtesy for other teams, please let us know your decision no later than August 11th. This will enable us to fill the field from the waitlist, if necessary, while still allowing those teams to make any necessary travel arrangements. If you have already paid but will not attend because you have earned a berth from regional playdowns, we will refund your payment.

Note that you can still register provisionally in the Open / Non-Qualifying division of this bonspiel if you have already secured a berth at arena nationals!
We registered in the Open division wait list. When will our registration be confirmed?
Registration preference is given to Qualifying Division teams through the August 11th registration deadline. On August 12th, we will confirm provisional registrations and request payment for any wait-listed teams. We will confirm registrations in the order they were received until the field is full.

Do I need to be belong to a USA Curling Member club to compete in a qualifying division?
Yes. The qualifying divisions are available exclusively to curlers that belong to USA Curling Member Clubs. Note that there is no club membership requirement for the Open / Non-Qualifying division.

Do I need a USA Curling "Competitor" membership to compete in a qualifying division?
No! You do not need the "Competitor" membership to compete in a qualifying division. However, if you win the berth, you must upgrade to "Competitor" in order to compete in arena nationals. Also note that there is no membership requirement for the Open / Non-Qualifying division.

Can I register a team that has already qualified for nationals?
Yes! Teams that have already qualified for the 2024 USA Curling Arena National Championships (i.e. returning champions and regional playdown winners) may register in the Open / Non-Qualifying Division. Teams in this division can compete in the bonspiel but are not eligible to receive a berth to arena nationals.

Can I register a team with curlers from multiple regions?
Yes! Teams with curlers from multiple regions may provisionally register in the Open / Non-Qualifying division. Teams in this division can compete in the bonspiel but are not eligible to receive a berth to arena nationals.

Can I register a mixed-gender team?
Yes! Mixed-gender teams may provisionally register in the Open / Non-Qualifying division. Teams in this division can compete in the bonspiel but are not eligible to receive a berth to arena nationals.

Can I register a team of dedicated-ice curlers?
Yes! Teams with dedicated-ice curlers may provisionally register in the Open / Non-Qualifying division. Teams in this division can compete in the bonspiel but are not eligible to receive a berth to arena nationals.

I have another question about eligibility for the arena national championship berth.
In order to receive the arena nationals berth, all members of the top-finishing teams from the men's and women's divisions must be eligible to compete in the arena national championship.

For more information about individual eligibility for the USA Curling Arena National Championship, refer to the USA Curling Qualification Procedures.

Are we required to use WCF-approved brush heads?
To ensure fair competition, WCF-approved brush heads are required in the Qualifying Divisions.
For more information about approved heads and fabrics, see the latest Approved Product Code List.

WCF-approved brush heads are not required in the Open / Non-Qualifying division.

What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay with check or Venmo. This information is also provided at the end of the registration form. Note that concessions at the Onalaska Omni Center accept only cashless payment.
